Support
Most problems are one of the fixes below. If yours is not, ask on Discord.
The common fixes
- Holding the key does nothing (Mac). Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Input Monitoring, and turn Whisperly on. Quit Whisperly and open it again.
- The words do not appear in your app (Mac). Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, and turn Whisperly on. If Whisperly asks to control System Events or your browser under Automation, allow it. You can also turn on copy only in Whisperly's settings and paste the text yourself.
- The first dictation takes a while (Mac). The first run prepares the speech model. It takes about three minutes and happens once. Leave Whisperly open until it is done.
- The keyboard's mic key does not work (iPhone). Open Settings, then General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards. Add Whisperly, tap it, and turn on Allow Full Access. The privacy policy says why it needs it.
Ask on Discord
Help is public, on the BlazedLabz apps Discord server. The link opens the help room. New posts are read once a day.
Discord is a separate service and needs a Discord account. Everyone on the server can read what you post there, so leave out anything private.
What to put in your post
- Mac or iPhone, and which version of macOS or iOS.
- The Whisperly build number. On the Mac it is in About Whisperly, in the Whisperly menu.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened.
- If a dictation went wrong: the words you said and the words that were typed.
- A screenshot, if something looked wrong.
